Harmless Harvest Coconut Water, Believe the Hype and Giveaway

I apologize if I’ve been somewhat inconsistent with my blog posts. I’ve been busy reapplying my natural deodorant, which I now do in plain sight like some would chapstick (only I don’t put it on my mouth, not yet anyway). I’ve also been spending time on another project that may or may not be my book proposal.I’m grateful writing has kept me primarily inside during this heat wave. I started a list of other things that make me happy when it’s hot as hell out.

Beastly Weather Gratitude Journal
  • I’m grateful for my tennis ball sized ice cubes.

I should note I’m also grateful for my jalapeno cocktail at Peels where I first learned of these cubes and for my friend Meg, a know-it-all in the best sense of the word, who was with us and sent me a link to the MOMA shop the next day.
  • I’m grateful for being female and for the multitude of sleeveless options we have, many of which are work appropriate. I realize I cannot go for a run shirtless and I should say I’m grateful to the men who wisely choose to retain theirs.
  • I’m grateful for the chocolate mint sorbet at ABC Kitchen, I may have said I’m not a dessert person, more salty than sweet…I may have lied.
  • I’m grateful for tartare and all its relatives ceviche, sashimi etc. Nothing is better in the summer and my vote goes to the tuna crudo at Mermaid Inn.
  • I’m grateful for cucumbers not only because they’re “cool” but also for the abundant juice you get from them. Anyone who has put a bunch of kale in a juicer knows what I mean.
  • If there’s one thing, other than sleep away camp, I’m most grateful for this summer it’s Harmless Harvest’s Coconut Water. This coconut water is raw and organic. Most importantly it’s insanely delicious. If you’ve tasted other brands and think you don’t like coconut water, I vote for a retrial. This is different. We have a whole shelf of them at work, I stockpile them at home, add some to smoothies, green juices and rice water. Heck (did I say heck, interesting), I would bathe in it but it’s a little pricey. While I’ve tried, young coconuts and I don’t play well together and I’m grateful that I don’t need to wrestle with them anymore.

You’re going to be grateful too, you know why? Harmless Harvest is giving away ONE CASE of their liquid heaven and t-shirts to one of our lucky readers.

  1. I love this stuff too-it's the only coconut water that actually tastes like the faintly sweet, refreshing stuff that comes out of the fresh coconut. I grew in the caribbean drinking this, so I know my Coconut milk.

  2. I dislike winter so much that I'll take (just about) anything summer can throw at me. I am most grateful for not having to wear socks. That always depresses me a bit when I have to dig back into the sock drawer in Sept/Oct.

  3. I cannot survive a hot summer day without Harmless Harvest! I became a believer a soon as their very friendly reps. At my local Whole Foods assured me they had to be refrigerated at all times because it is soooo fresh! Forget those other bottle coconut waters sitting on the grocery store shelves next to the soda! HH is the real thing...yes, I drank the koolaide (I mean water)!

    ReplyDelete
  4. um, we drank the "koolaid" too, there's nothing like HH.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Wow, I've never thought so much about socks but getting up and out is easy in this weather.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Grew up in the Caribbean, so this is your weather for sure. Refreshing is the word for HH. Funny, I don't think of it as sweet but I guess it is.

  7. Lauren! Book proposal? Awesome! (Do you need an editor?) :-) The only coconut water I've seen at our local food co-op is by the soda. I am going to look for Harmless Harvest. They are usually good about buying things if you suggest it so if they don't have it, maybe they'll get it for me! It's hot here, too.

  8. I want to win! I was just talking about this brand to someone and I said I would buy it in bulk if it wasn't so pricey. It's so so so so GOOOOD. I typically gulp down coconut water but this one I savor.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Fresh Direct sometimes has sales, I try to sip but I gulp and then I'm sad when it's over b/c I stick to 1/day.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Always want an editor, let's talk!

  11. Harmless Harvest has to be the freshest, most delicious coconut water out there. With temperatures regularly over 90 here in Brooklyn, it's just the trick to make it through the day!

  12. My Son who is studying for the Bar is obsessed with Coconut water. On Lauren's recommendation I bought HH and stocked my frig while my son house sat and studied when we were away . I have now turned him into a coconut water snob. It is not so easy to find but like most of us I'd travel the world for my kids. It was my intro to coconut water and I'm hooked as well. Thank you L & HH.

  13. I am obsessed with Harmless Harvest - it tastes like real water straight from the coconut! The other brands don't come close with their artificial, processed taste. It is absolutely essential for me to have a bottle of HH on hand, especially when I am trying to muddle my way through my outdoor workouts, especially with this awful weather in NYC!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'm with you Katherine, I have a bottle a day and love the new, slightly larger, ones.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Ooh, HH as a study food, love that. Libbe- my son is like your son but mine is 10. He asked for HH on visiting day and yes if I had to travel to Asia to the source to get it, I would. Good luck with the Bar.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I would love an IV of HH.

  17. So I tried coconut water for the first time recently and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I wanted to love it but instead I felt "Eh, it's alright" So I'm thinking this brand might blow my socks off and I'd like to give it a try. I'm a tad far so not sure about being eligible for the giveaway but will look for harmless harvest at my health food store!
Oh and Book proposal? So exciting!!!! I will promote that book like it's nobody's business! Can't wait to find out more :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Awesome! Can't wait to see who wins!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I love coconut water, although I admit that I've never tried Harmless Harvest. If you say it's fantastic, then I better make a trip to my local organic market! Or winning this giveaway would be even better! :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Oh, I can't wait to try this brand! I LOVE the fresh water when I crack a batch of young thai coconuts, but as a busy busy momma, just don't have the time to keep a fresh supply as I would like to. Thanks for the recommendation!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh my gawd, I would DIE to win this. Ok, not die. But scream with orgasmic coconut happiness. Did I go too far? Ok, sorry. I want to win this because I am on a long juice fast right now and although I enjoy cracking fresh coconuts for the water, I can't right now, because soon my freezer would fill up and overflow with the coconut meat that I can't currently eat. I just want that fresh, beautiful water! And with Harmless Harvest's coconut water, I can have it in my fridge and ready to grab at any time I feel sick of green juice! No other coconut water compares. I NEED this! :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. i would LOVE the liquid heaven, just because i love coconut water but feel like i shouldn't shell out for it all the time. plus, it would be so great in this HEAT.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I think if we only spent on the great/ "heavenly" things it's worth shelling it out. Agree?

    ReplyDelete
  24. "orgasmic coconut happiness" if that isn't a keeper, I don't know what is.

    ReplyDelete
  25. even kidless for the summer I have trouble stockpiling coconuts, coconut water...no problem

    ReplyDelete
  26. so glad you trust me, I wouldn't steer you wrong, nor would I blog about anything that wasn't worth it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. harmless harvest coconut water = amazing raw coconut power! it is by far the best coconut water i have ever had - it fuels me while scaling the side of rocks in yosemite valley :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oh gosh, you would be cracking coconuts till your hands were numb! I used to work in a raw food kitchen and we would have huge coconut cracking days in order to freeze enough coconut meat and water for our daily use. It was craziness! You left smelling like fabulous coconut though :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. I love harmless harvest coconut water because it sometimes comes in pink and pink drinks always taste better! Ok with all kidding aside {well, that was partially true...}, HH tastes like the real thing. Exactly like it, that's how I know theirs' is the purest, most natural coconut water I can get aside from cracking into a coconut and how convenient that they have finally come along so I don't have to! It's perfect after a scorching hot hot yoga class or dressed up in a goji and sunflower sprout green smoothie. I'm just in love <3

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh the pink ones, at first I was scared but now i feel lucky when I grab a pinky. "Dressed up" love that, recipe for goji smoothie please.

    ReplyDelete
  31. OK your workouts win, scaling yosemite? For fun or for your profession. Either way, my 45 minute run didn't deserve as much of a liquid reward.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I am a big fan of coconut water-the best thing to drink before a long run! I'd love to win a case of the Harmless Harvest and try a new brand!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'd love to try the harmless Harvest coconut water.water..

    ReplyDelete
  34. I have to admit I am not a huge fan of coconut water, but I have only tried it once, the Zico brand I believe. If you think that trying Harmless Harvest will make me a convert then I'm more than happy to give it a try!
I am also very thankful for freshly brewed iced tea and ChocolateMint water, also fresh cherries and peaches/nectarines!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'd love a more natural athletic recovery beverage!

    ReplyDelete
  36. this needs to be HH's new byline, awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  37. it's recovery in that there's potassium but I think needs a little protein post workout (smoothie with HH is a good bet)

    ReplyDelete
  38. chocolate mint water? And yes, if you haven't tried HH you haven't really experienced coconut water, more like milky/soapy water if you ask me (re the others).

    ReplyDelete
  39. We will enter you, love "water water".

    ReplyDelete
  40. love it pre run too, although love UCAN and eboost both mentioned in our drinks newsletter today.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Taste like its straight from a Coconut! Period! The others dont! I wish this was given to all the children before Soda!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Ohhh, that sounds good. But then we'd lose out on the great taste. Gallon jugs are fine for me, thank you very much.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I love this brand of coconut water, not only is it delicious but its ORGANIC and RAW!! I mean it doesn't get much better than that, and on a hot summer day it is oh so refreshing! Also, they say on the bottle that the pink ones are even better for you so I'm always sorting through the white bottles to find the pink ones.

    ReplyDelete
  44. better for you? I have to find out more, I thought just pink.

    ReplyDelete
  45. such a good point with kids, my kids love

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oh yes, ChocolateMint. There are other flavors too, Lemonmint, orangemint, spearmint, etc. They're all good. A little pricey but they all are. Flavored but no sweetener. I saw it in a magazine once and had to search high and low for it near me but I found them at Fairway (looked at Whole Foods and some other specialty type stores and no luck)...so good especially on a hot day. I agree about the one coconut water I've tried, I really didn't like it so I'll definitely give this one a try whether I win some or not!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I want to try it because as you mentioned... I think I don't like coconut water very much. Or warm coconut water at least?? Yuck.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'm with you on warm coconut water, although I have been known to heat Organic Avenues raw coconut milk (shush).

    ReplyDelete
  49. Ooo this is a GREAT giveaway! I want to try this because 1. I've been reading so much about it lately 2. I'm an extremely stifling preggo who while loves water, LOVES a little flavor to it more lately 3. bc I've never tried it before 4. bc it's organic AND raw!! 5. your rave review has me wanting to make a trip to Whole Foods to get some! 6. you said it's expensive...I like FREE things! :) I hope I win haha

ps. I too am thankful for work appropriate sleeveless tops however, at this point in pregnancy my knockers don't make them so appropriate lol

    ReplyDelete
  50. Thank you for making be laugh with your "knockers" comment. Oh they're preggers knockers, those are ok! And the potassium is good for pregnancy bloat.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I love the Harmless Harvest because sometimes you get a pink one! I go through them until I find one and then I spend the whole day thinking I'm special because everyone else is drinking a "normie". And, for better or worse, I'm anything but normal. Thank you for this great giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Rumor has it the "pinks" have more antioxidants. Sometimes, abnormal is good (most times if you ask me).

    ReplyDelete
  53. leave it to us to live parallel lives. i probably spend $15 a week on harmless harvest but it's $ well spent. it's so refreshing - it really feels/tastes like you stuck a straw in a coconut. i love the small portioned bottles too (despite their big price). Heck, I'm craving one right now

    ReplyDelete
  54. I would love to try HH. I've tried a number of others, first time hearing of Harmless Harvest, and I'm always left with wanting more flavor. Not coconut-ty enough!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Oh, Harmless Harvest, I can't go very long without you in this weather. Here's what they remind me of: sitting on the ruins of Angkor Wat in Cambodia (Yes! Really!) with cracked coconuts, sipping coconut water through a straw, in the same heat we've been struggling with here all summer. It was so delicious, so refreshing. And that's what Harmless Harvest tastes like to me now: a real coconut from places where they really grow.
But they don't let you sit on the ruins any more, at Angkor Wat.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I've never been to Cambodia but now that's what they'll remind me of too. There really is no taste as refreshing other than maybe watermelon (too sweet).

    ReplyDelete
  57. this is coconutty and cleaner, crisper tasting.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I loved the mini bottles but do snag the slightly larger one when I see it. Oh my we all have HH habits. bTW is this Lisa H?

    ReplyDelete
  59. I love this coconut water, it is by far the best I have ever had. :) I'd be THRILLED to win a case of it. Thanks so much!

  60. For me, drinking Harmless Harvest makes me fee like I am on a date with a boy who gives me butterflies. Then, all of the sudden, I take a sip, and I hear music in my ears, and feel the butterflies flutter in my belly. This is one of the many treats that I hunt down whenever I travel. I was turned onto coconut water from Organic Avenue after doing a cleanse and my world forever changed when I tasted HH. I know my taste... I am only going to drink a Rolls Royces. There are no 1985 Corolla's (Zico, Vita Coco) in my house.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I've tried Harmless Harvest and I love it! Got a bad bottle recently that tasted sour and fizzy, and I want to give it another shot. :)

    ReplyDelete
  62. just tried harmless harvest for the first time in NYC yesterday and nearly swooned with happiness. thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Would love to try this! I've been searching for raw, unadulterated coconut water that's delicious. For some reason...I seem to be the only one who doesn't like Zico/Vitacoco...

  66. I love the HH coconut water - it does takes like the real thing! I am totally hooked on it and can't get enough of it! Super addictive in a good way! I am looking to buy a large case of it the 16 oz bottles, but seems hard to find which store carry it... Until then i will be buying the small bottle of this heavenly drink,

    ReplyDelete
  67. I love all things coconut but hate all the brands of coconut water I've tried so far...I'm convinced Harmless Harvest is going to be a game changer!!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Haha! I'll let them borrow that line if they want ;)

    ReplyDelete
