So we get through Thanksgiving and our reward? Black Friday, cyber Monday and the frenzy with everyone looking buy, buy, buy. If you’re in NYC you have the added bonus of a month of gridlock. Sorry if I’m sounding a little grinchy, I actually love the holidays, it’s all the added stuff that makes me happy to be fleeing the city weekly starting Friday.
If you’re exasperated by the holiday hoopla, today’s post is for you. No really, it’s all for you. On Monday we put together our Foodtrainers’ Favorite Gifts/Guide. Today, some of our favorites wanted to spread the joy and have giveaways waiting for you. We followed suit with our newest Foodtrainers creation.
Full confession, I first learned of Catherine McCord and Weelicious from the Goop newsletter. Though McCord’s recipes include the “wee” set, they make adults really happy. Her Sweet Broiled Salmon has made our regular dinner rotation. If you’re looking to spice up your menus, we have one Weelicious book for a hungry reader.
Holidays are hectic, as you shop, attend parties or travel this month (and in general) I’ll remind you of the importance of a purse snack. While nuts are one of the most nutritious foods, they’re also very easy to overdo. Enter, our Foodtrainers’ Nutcase.
On the back we’ll make sure you know the snacking parameters. I’m starting to feel like Oprah, if only…but we’re giving away a nutcase too.
I don’t know about you but the issue of where to stash things while running or heading to a workout class is quite perplexing. I remember my grandmother enjoying her natural “breast pocket” with a tissue always appearing from odd places. That’s not for me, especially not with sweat involved. Enter Sprigs wrist wallets. Your money, credit card and even phone will have a dry place to stay. One wrist wallet for a reader AND as if that’s not exciting enough use code FoodTrainers20 10% off of orders up to $29.99 or 20% off of orders above that amount and is valid until 11:59 PM EDT, 12/31/12. Did I mention the ear bags? If you’re anti-hat check those out too
And finally, not saying any of you with need this but DRAMapothecary has a highly effective (not that we would know)”hair of the dog” hangover tonic. This blend of herbs “cures the ailments caused by overindulgence of a good time.” I’d grab one of every hostess, college student and fun friend on your list. DRAM
Tis’ the season and DRAM knows it, how about 5 bottles to give away?
We can’t make the holidays less hectic but we’re here to make them happier.
What is on your wish list? Which of these items makes you most excited? Rank these gifts in the order you like them.
You have until Monday, Dec 3rd to let your Foodtrainers’ elves know.
More holiday fun next Thursday, check back.
I love the nutcase idea and I always want new healthy recipes for the fam so here's my ranked list: 1)Nutcase 2)Weelicious cookbook 3)Running Wallet 4)Dram. I'd love to add one of Carolyn's Hydroponic herb boxes to my list as well! Now back to my kid's hanukah shopping list!
ReplyDeleteI tend to get a little grinchy myself around this time. I can't stand all the talk about buying buying buying, especially considering so many Americans are still having a hard time even feeding their children. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I need this hangover tonic :) And I think my friends would like it too! Great gift idea. Next on my list? the nut case, then the cookbook, then wrist wallet.
Enjoy your day LAuren!
Working from home has actually reduced my stress this year, and made me realize how much I have to be thankful for.
ReplyDeleteI would still love to win a giveaway. the Dram and the running wallet top my list. It's something for when I'm good and something for when I'm not.
Naughty or Nice, right Randi?
ReplyDeleteLove the tonic in position 1.
ReplyDeleteOh the kids will be fine, you need herbs, recipes and portion control. Priorities Ava, ha.
ReplyDeleteHere's my lineup: 1)Weelicious cookbook 2)Nutcase 3)Running Wallet 4)Dram because the last thing I want to do this time of the year is shop. Our big gift this year was to be a television and that was ordered online and delivered two days ago. Maybe in NYC you can relate to this: Here in Des Moines we have the nation's best kept secret going on. Tons of local restaurants, shopping, theater, RAYGUN (Katie Holmes placed an order this week), history, art...unfortunately this time of year all the folks come into town from the rural counties and they get scared driving on the interstate, downtown, around the malls. I need Prozac/vodka cocktails just to get from work back to the house. Heaven forbid I should have to drive within 2 miles of any shopping district. That sounds snotty, doesn't it? Sorry. A giveaway in my mailbox would surely help me shake it off!
ReplyDeleteLet's see what we can do Caron...yes can relate.
ReplyDeleteSo you get the GOOP Newsletter too? Love her. She can do no wrong. In any case, I'm feeling a bit grinchy too. Mostly because I'm still reeling from my property visits with a NYC broker. What some people call a bedroom and what I call a bedroom is vastly different.
ReplyDeleteI want a clean, fairly affordable, updated rental. Is that too much to ask for on my Xmas list? :)
Welcome to NYC, our older son was in our dining room for a year. Um...the "Donalds's" buildings UWS?
ReplyDeletesnacking and cooking (especially for little guys) are my biggest challenges, and you know I love nutcases so I'd love the nutcase, and weelicious, next in line would be sprig and dram. Hope your weekend escape is peaceful!
ReplyDeleteOn my wishlist: $50,000 haha OR one of these giveaways! I would LOVE to try the weelicious cookbook bc I'm always looking for new recipes, then your nut pack, and then the DRAM! The cookbook makes me the most excited!! :) Hope you are doing well LAuren!
ReplyDeleteDining room, really?
ReplyDeleteThe problem for me is the very narrow school zone that I have to look in…contemplating other schools now…
well don't have 50K but the Weelicious book is a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteOMG you are a nut specialist and so many varieties of nuts. Just be careful you don't get too many...PS I want to see a photo of nutcase on your desk at work. Ha.
ReplyDeleteCall me if you need to discuss but NY real estate is a little depressing.
ReplyDelete10 months I'm mostly nice, but these 2 months are much more
ReplyDeletenaughty.
Cookbook first, then DRAM, wrist wallet, & nut case in that order. The birthday gods were good to me & I'm now a proud owner of a Breville Juicer, so not much on my holiday wish list, except for maybe a large, pretty framed chalk/magnetic board for my entry way...
ReplyDeleteNut Case, DRAM, wrist wallet, cookbook. The Nut Case sounds awesome and since I am one, it's fitting! The DRAM will come in handy as I will forever be one who knows better and does so anyway. Wrist wallet sounds super handy too! Love these goodies. The cookbook is least interesting because it's geared toward parents of which I am not. But I could re-gift it. Or cook myself & my fiance kid-friendly foods...
ReplyDeleteI would fully enjoy the fun of a cookbook prize! 1. weelicious cookbook 2. Foodtrainers Nutcase 3. Sprigs wrist wallets 4. Dram. On my wishlist: a tablet for more books!
ReplyDeleteCookbook. Dram. Nutcase. Wrist wallet. The cookbook is especially relevant as I am always struggling with good recipes for my little guy.
ReplyDeletewould check out Weelicious blog for starters Sam, very good.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you Jenn, I'm thinking ipad mini but I'm such a kindle-loyal girl...
ReplyDeleteLove your list and while title seems so kiddie (and book has some toddler foods) it also makes adults happy too.
ReplyDeleteWho isn't a nutcase really?
ooh juice time, can't wait to exchange ideas. Happy Birthday EA.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder to enter this--almost totally forgot!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the nutcase. hilarious, and so practical. I rank that #1 because my current oversized, overused ziplock bag in my purse is not very chic.
2. Weelicious. No kids, but who I love new cookbooks.
3. Springs--neat idea.
3. DRAM. Cute, but we are boring and not actually in need of this remedy too often.
My order is the Nut Case, Dram, wallet, cookbook. I don't have kids, so the cookbook would likely be given to a family member, but I love all the gifts!
ReplyDeleteThe nut case is probably the most exciting - no more sandwich baggies of almonds! My wishlist highlight is an indoor bike trainer!
