Juice and Smoothie Recipes on Instagram

I am fairly new to both the iPhone and Instagram but I'm having a lot of fun with them. I get a lot of questions about smoothies and juices mostly ..."what do I put in them?" It's funny, this is the one place this normally recipe-centric girl is creative. You can put whatever you want in them or whatever you have on hand. Here are some ideas:
Tuesday something very rare happened, I found myself with no greens- we were kale, microgreen and spinach-less. This proved a delicious, refreshing combo.
Have I mentioned the puppy? Yes, it's been a little over a week. This was my effort to make up for sleep with juice.

I love Prince although I named this smoothie only after making it. Some of my favorite ingredients are used here.
Do you juice or smooth? What are your favorite ingredients or combinations? Do you use Instagram...it's fun.

  1. We don't juice in our house but we love smoothies! My 7 year old is a smoothie fanatic. He likes them very thick so I almost always use frozen fruit in them, and some yogurt. He comes up with some pretty crazy combinations though - most of the time I go with it although I will gently suggest when I think he's come up with something that just won't go together.

I would like to use more greens in my smoothies but I've had a hard time with that. I made one with spinach once (and yogurt, and fruit) but it didn't come out very well. To be honest it kind of turned me off to green smoothies but I feel like it's a great way to up my veggie intake so I'd like to keep trying it out until I hit on one that works for me. I'm a recipe person though, so any links to good ones that you have used would definitely be helpful!

  2. I think for green smoothies you have to have a high-powered blender to totally pulverize them. Picking greens from your teeth isn't appetizing.

  6. Love all of these ideas & very creative for a recipe follower :-) I smoothie way more than I juice ( much easier to clean out the blender IMO, plus I like the fiber), but I do love a good juice concoction every now and then, and the "need a jolt" juice is totally calling out my name!

I love all your juices & smoothies on Instagram!

Favorite smoothie: water, banana, lots and lots of spinach, hemp seeds, and frozen mango.

  8. Your purple rain smoothie looks refreshing and delicious - I love anything with almond. In my own smoothies I'm currently obsessed with frozen spinach - it keeps the smoothie icy and is a great way to "drink my greens." :)

  9. do you use extracts Elise? If not, almond extract is a real game (or smoothie) changer. Frozen spinach- is it difficult to take apart/use? Do you freeze it or buy frozen?

  10. ha ha Andrea- I've seen we've both been on Instagram, thanks for the "likes". Mango- funny not a fruit I use a lot, will try and circle back.

  12. And it tastes sort of that same user-friendly way.

  13. I buy bagged frozen spinach (so the leaves are loose, instead of a block of frozen spinach-ice) and it's very easy to use with a high speed blender. I have not tried almond extract but will - I know I'd adore the flavor! :)
